How to set the CNAME record for a domain hosted with 123reg.
Before you start...
Only paid-for accounts can be used with an external domain. To upgrade a free account go to our Store (1).
STEP 1: Log into the 123reg control panel
Select the domain you wish to work with (1) and then click the manage button (2)
STEP 2: Click Manage DNS
In Advanced domain settings click on Manage DNS (1)
STEP 3: Delete any existing 'A' records
Click on the Advanced DNS (1) tab.
You will see two A records that you will need to delete. Just click on the bin icon by the side of those records to delete them (2). If you don't delete these records, the mapping will not work.
STEP 4: Add a new CNAME record
You will now need to add a new CNAME record.
Select CNAME from the drop down menu (1) . Type www into the Hostname field (2) and finally type lbbklive.basekit.com into the right-hand field (3).
To confirm the entry, click the Add (4) button.
Add another CNAME, but this time use @ as the Hostname (1).
Click the Add (2) button to confirm the entry
STEP 5: Logout of your 123reg control panel
Click the Logout button (1)
STEP 6: Login into your editor
Click on Manage (1)
1. Click on the Domain mapping tab
2. Click on Map a domain
STEP 7. Map your domain name
1. Enter the domain name you want to map (including the 'www.')
2. Click on the Test mapping button to check if the DNS setup you did in 123reg is correct
3. Click on the Map domain button if the blue button changes to 'Looks good'
The global DNS system can take 4-8 hours to update all DNS records around the world. You may find it starts working within less than an hour but please give it at least 4 hours before contacting support. This has nothing to do with the editor.
